Precision Forest Management Solutions for Maine's Forestlands

We aim to move beyond a world of vector based geospatial constraints of dynamic systems, and toward a digital representation of current and potential forest characteristics. We have initiated the process with state-wide digtial soil maps, generated with open-source data and technology for free download and utilization.

As part of ongoing collaborative research with the Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station (MAFES) and the Cooperative Forestry Research Unit (CFRU), the following digital soil layers are available here for download. 

• soil pH

• soil exchangeable Ca (Mg ha)

• soil exchangeable Mg (Mg ha)

• soil exchangeable K (Mg ha)

• Soil water capacity (mm m2)
